When one billion humans join the same mission: Rise! Resist! Unite! That's One Billion Rising in SL. I'm so glad that I can join the movement this year (and I would like to join again the next year!). The event held on 14 February 2019 at the http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/OBR%20Rise/51/79/23 It's a one-day event, so if you want to be there, now is your time!
Fight for women and children has become my mission because women and children often used to satisfy the passion of power by man. When I found out about One Billion Rising from Facebook, I thought it will be a good event to unite and fight together. And yes it's true, there was a lot of artworks that will raise the enthusiasm to fight together for women here. I hope that this event will make people see and support the mission so that many people will rise and unite, to resist the violence against women.

"My artwork for One Billion Rising tries to capture the moment when a person who has endured rape, sexual abuse, or violence of any kind finally breaks free of the pain that they've experienced, be it physical or emotional."

"The Matilda effect is a bias against acknowledging the achievements of those women scientists whose work is attributed to their male colleagues. This effect was first described by suffragist and abolitionist Matilda Joslyn Gage in her essay, "Woman as Inventor". "
"After the Chain Breaks"
We speak of breaking the chain, to end the cycle of oppression and exploitation, but then after the chain is broken, the momentum cannot stop there. We have to change the world for the better, for good. We are in a time now where those in power are striving to reverse the tide of change. This cannot be allowed, we must not be silenced or stopped. The oppression will end when we take away the concept of "power" and in its place there is freedom. For everyone.

This year, One Billion Rising in Second Life is especially saluting the work and courage of the joint Nobel Peace Prize winners in 2018, Denis Mukwege and Nadia Murad “for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict,” according to the Norwegian Nobel Committee announcement on 5 October 2018 in Oslo, Norway.
